Picking Out Leather Shoes

Most leather shoes are not waterproof but you can make yours waterproof. Do this by rubbing boiled linseed oil onto the leather. Do this twice then dry them out before you wear them again. White leather shoes can be a challenge to clean since they are white. But you can keep them clean by rubbing them with cleansing milk using a cotton wool pad. Leave it for 15 minutes then rub it again using a dry duster. For leather boots, keeping their shape is essential to maintaining the quality. You can do this by inserting shoe supports. There are numerous ways to maintain your shoes and the above are just some of them. Whatever method you use, make sure you do it regularly. It's the only way you can prolong the life of your shoes. When you purchase leather shoes and leather boots, you can choose from various forms of leather. You can select from sued leather, full grain, as well as corrected grain. When you select leather shoes and leather boots that are made from full grain, you are selecting high quality leather that is made from an assortment of materials, except for the hair of the animal that it is produced from. The various types of leather can be purchased in tanned leather, leather that is boiled, leather that is painted and more.

When shoes are not made of quality materials, a short wear life is expected. However, the quality of your shoes can rapidly fade if they are not maintained on a regular basis. Thus, though quality is a factor in the longevity of shoes, it's not the sole factor. Shining and polishing shoes adds a special touch to the look of your leather. But polishing does more than just add a little shine, it can extend their life. The treatment can add years of value by moisturizing the leather. Leather will dry out if it not conditioned regularly, causing cracks in the leather shoes which will ultimately make the leather fall apart. Shoe polishes can be found as a wax, a paste, a liquid or a cream. Wax is best for leather shoes that are regularly exposed to the outdoors. Wax will eventually dry the shoes out, so it needs to be used in addition to a good leather conditioner to preserve the leather.

Leather shoes also need to be cleaned. Use a shoe brush to remove dirt and debris. They are subject to salt stains as well. Salt stains can be easily removed if caught early with a mixture of one cup hot water and one tablespoon white vinegar. Gently scrub with a soft rag and then let the shoes air dry. Shoe wipes and shine sponges are other products that can be used to clean and polish leather shoes. They are both handy, but don't take the place of a good cleaning, conditioning and polishing. You can select from an assortment of leather shoes and leather boots. You may favor the look and feel of sued leather. There are many types of both shoes and boots that are made from sued leather. You can also select faux leather shoes and leather boots. This is a safe and affordable alternative to standard leather.
